What an awesome thing when God begins showing us who we really are, as we begin seeing what He has called us to be. We have lived a lie for too long. It is time we shake the past and allow God's light to show who we are. Let us not stop short of what God wants from us. Let us not short-circuit His plans for us. Let us do 2 Chron. 7:14 (...if my people, who belong to me, humble themselves, pray, seek to please me, and repudiate their sinful practices, then I will respond from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.) Let us choose life and not death!
When we begin the process of changing from who we were to who we will be in Christ we go through things. We have to face who we had become, our attitudes, failures, and just a host of things, and we then must choose to align with who God says we are and let Him change us.
I make prayer staffs for myself and others. The making of a staff involves a number of steps:
- cutting the right piece of wood (which involves a fair amount of prayer)
- peeling the outer bark from the wood
- setting it aside and allowing it to slowly dry so the wood will not split
- sanding the rough outer skin off the wood when it has finished drying
- sanding, sanding, sanding, sanding and more sanding until the wood reaches proper smoothness
- oiling and praying and oiling and prayer until the staff takes on its "character" and is finally ready
Now just to clear the field - a staff is nothing more that a stick, but it is a symbol of something in the Spirit. It is a representation of our inability to do anything and our absolute reliance on a live God who is our Father. To me, it drives me ever more into His arms and chambers in prayer.
Now the reason for mentioning the above steps - we go through a similar process in being changed from glory to glory, and becoming who God says we are.
Choose life! Allow Him to change you into who He says you are. Do not hang onto the lie that you have lived. I don't care who you are, what office you in God's army, what level you have attained in the Spirit. God wants to take us deeper in Him, reveal more of Himself to us, release more of His anointing through us, and use us to change a lost and dying world.
Choose life!
