Timing and hearing the voice of God is everything. You get up at a certain time, work at a certain time, eat at a certain time. Our entire life is based on schedules of one type or another.
As we walk with God the same principle applies. He orders our lives and sets various events in motion. We have a choice whether to respond to His requests or not. We can choose whether to listen to His voice, or do what we want. When we choose God's way life can be very interesting with many new and exciting things occurring. When we choose our way, well, we usually find trouble and heartache with no lasting satisfaction and joy.
Take a look at Acts 8:4-8 and 8:26-40. These verses speak of timing and hearing the voice of the Lord. In these verses Philip had an awesome ministry going in the old capitol of Samaria. Tremendous signs and wonders were happening. People were being saved and set free from demon possession. An awesome move of the Holy Spirit! Philip was probably having a lot of fun watching what God was doing!
But then the voice ... Philip heard a voice saying to leave that city, leave the awesome ministry, leave the harvest field, leave all that was dear to his heart, leave it all! "Go south to the road - the desert road - that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza."
Philip had a choice, a decision to make that would change his life again. Was this the Lord's voice calling him 'who knows where", or was this too much pepperoni?
Timing and hearing God's voice is everything!
Philip chose to believe it was God's voice, he chose to respond and leave immediately. Think what mighthave happened if he had delayed. The timing of meeting the eunich traveling on one road and Philip traveling on another road at that particular point where the two roads met; the eunich traveling in a chariot; Philip traveling on foot; in the middle of nowhere! If philip had delayed while he sought council from other people, if he had delayed while he prayed and waited on God for an answer - any of those things might have caused him to miss his divine appointment. The eunich might not have been baptized. Philip might not have been translated to Agatus, the towns between Agatus and Caesarea ....
In our ministries timing and hearing the voice of God is everything. We must be in-tune with the Holy Spirit. When He calls us to go somewhere or speak something we must be ready and move. The other day I ran out of milk for my coffee. I didn't want to go out, so I asked my wife if she would go. She said, "No'. So I had to go. I asked the Lord, "where should I go?" He told me the store - it was a divine appointment time, a Kioros time! There was a person in that store needing a word from the Lord. If I would not have gone to the store that person would not have heard what they needed to hear at that time. Timing is everything! Hearing from the Lord is everything!
All of it comes from being men and women of prayer, who have come to a place of hearing what God has to say and then doing it without question.
